I recently needed to install Oracle XE on my 64 Windows 7. Unfortunatelly, it seems that Oracle does not provide a 64bit installer on Oracle XE. But there is a workaround for this issue.
Original solution can be found on luminite.org but I'm reposting it so it remains if the author decides to remove it.
When you will get an error saying "The installer is unable to instantiate the file C:\Users\ … … \KEY_XE.reg" do not click ok. Open regedit and expand keys HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> Installer -> Products -> 266B7A….. -> SourceList-> Media. There should be a value ’1′ under Name on the right column. Under ‘Data’ on the same
row, the value should be ‘DISK 1′ or something similar.Modify this value so it is the same as in error message from installer, but without the KEY_XE.reg, that is "C:\Users\ … … }\". Close regedit, click ok on installer and wait. After some time you should get info that OracleXE was installed correctly.
